Hero of the Hopeless - Chapter 1A Chapter by black☠princessread and find outChapter One A young girl stands in a big empty room, which is only filled by the shower head that she stands under. The girl just stands there head facing downwards as water pours down her body. Her hair is short and brown; it has two green streaks just outside of her bangs. She has a cross on her neck and a large rose shaped burn mark covering most of her back. Along with that her eyebrows are that of a goddess, they are perfectly formed and never out of place. She has eyes as silver, bright, and beautiful as the moon. Though sadly, her eyes’ beauty is over looked because of the sadness that lay within them. Because of all these things she knew that she was an odd looking girl, even compared to all the other prisoners here, and she knew it very well. She has been trapped here in this prison camp for many years, her along with many others. They were all captured in the midst of an unexpected attack. This attack had ended up starting a battle. A battle that would end up waging all over the world, a World War. However, all that means to those that reside here is that this is where they are going to die, and they know they are going to die without ever even getting to remember the warmth and light of the sun. And just like them this girl has forgotten the sun as well, only unlike them she has no past to remember. She has nothing to cling to no friends, no family, no home, and no memories. All she has left is pain. Every day it is the same thing, all she can do is stand there. Stand there as if she was paralyzed, unable to move, think, or breathe. Her face was blank, mind strained, stomach hollow, and her chest in agony. Her chest felt as if someone had grabbed hold of her heart and was endlessly squeezing it to a point where it felt like it was about to explode. Suddenly, she heard a boom from not too far away. It didn’t seem very big which meant that some of the newer, more foolish prisoners were trying to escape again. Though she didn’t think it would take them very long to figure out that there is no escaping from this place. Not here. Then like a chain reaction everything went black for a moment. She could tell something was happening, yet she didn’t feel the Earth shake from beneath her. She wondered what it was. Her mind began to race with thoughts. Then she was a small child standing in a front lawn looking up at the sky. Just standing there watching as millions upon millions of tiny black dots began to appear in the sky. Then the skyscrapers in the nearby city were being blasted into pieces and crashing down. The little girl stood there in shock, so scared that she was unable to move. Everyone around her was running and screaming and being killed. By the infinite number of troops that were arriving from the city. When suddenly someone grabbed her from behind….. She awoke from her trance. She was unable to fully understand what had just happened. Her lips quivered and in an exhaling breath she asked herself, “WH….Wha…What just...happened?” As she spoke these words she collapsed onto the floor. She huddled on the floor clasping to her head in despair. Pictures of thousands of people being murdered and maimed kept flashing through her mind. All those days seeing all those people locked in those damned cells. The expressions on their faces, the looks in their eyes. All she ever did was stand there and watch it. She watched it all happen, she was the only one who knew it was going to happen, and still she did nothing. She couldn’t escape the contemplations of her cruelness. Then rather abruptly, the anomalous scar on her boney back started to commence in to an excruciating burning pain. Then almost immediately all her thoughts, feelings, and pains suddenly vanished. Everything she had just felt. Just disappeared, like that, out of thin air. As she raised her head, she twisted it left and right wondering why she was on the ground. Slowly beginning to rise, she stood for a moment. Then she just nudged it all off. Finished up her shower and put her rags back on. She knocked on the door. A guard unlocked it. Then he and the other guard asked if she was done. As they were asking such they kept their guns pointed up at her. She replied to them, “Obviously.” Then one of the guards pimp slapped her for her insolence, knocking her off her feet and hard into a wall. Blood from her head smeared against the wall. Then with an annoyed look one of the guards grabbed her arm and dragged her off to her cell down these gloomy grey stone halls. On their way they saw some other prisoners on their knees, and hands behind their heads. There were three guards there, each were pointing their guns at the prisoners. There was a look of rebellion in the prisoners’ eyes. They soon arrived at her single cell. He pushed her inside, knocking her to the ground. Then slamming the cell door and walking away. She stayed up for another two hours to make sure she didn’t have a concussion, before she went to sleep. She sat herself down in a corner and laid her head up against the wall to her left and slowly drifted into an unrested slumber. © 2008 black☠princessReviews
