A Sonnet to You

A Sonnet to You

A Poem by nicki_504

I wonder what has happened to you

I have heard nothing since last Monday.

I wonder if you are no longer to me true.

Or is this simply just your nonchalant way?

However, I hope that you are doing fine.

To neglect me is but a meagre sacrifice.

I’d prefer to know you strive,

Than to hear of your premature demise.

I’d prefer to commandeer neglect,

Than to see the end of your stealthy rise.

I’d prefer for you an epithet,

Than to see for you an epitaph scribed.

I know that I worry excessively, I need not strife.

But if you truly no longer are, that part of me would sourly die.

I actually wrote this quite quickly, but I've corrected the rhyme scheme so that the sonnet form will not be compromised, thank you for pointing that out.

is the rhyme scheme off in the second stanza ? a healthy attitude and perspective to have for someone who forgets ones existence. i like that about this piece.
