And the Boy Ran

And the Boy Ran

A Poem by nicki_504

And the Boy Ran

What does she do when she is again abandoned?

He came into her life,

With essence of child,

She knew within him lurked something eerie yet puerile.

The mystery created furthered her fancy,

Her life revived, set her heart a prancing.

He saw her face that which he despised.

Though she knew this she sought not reprise.

And so he lengthened his distance,

With quick insistence,

So he ran.

Stood still she stands.

He came into her life,

He stood tall with pride.

He charmed her good grace.

He moved with swift even pace,

Though a union brought forth by contemptuous rage,

He smiled, she smiled.

He retrieved her vehicle and said goodbye.

He lengthened his distance,

With great insistence,

The boy ran.

Stood still she stands.

He came into her life,

After merriment of wine,

He stood in front of her, he kept her from falling.

She saw his valiant display as angel’s calling.

He made aim to be at her side,

Three times, three nights, three times denied.

He received nothing he left at last.

She believed she’d give him everything if he enlisted one more chance.

And so it began once more.

Greatly challenged, greatly ignored.

He promised many times.

And yet found reason to lie.

He soon showed cowardice,

A grey heart once more eclipsed.

He lengthened his distance,

With terrifying insistence,

The boy ran.

She tried to stand.
