Life, oh a stage.

Life, oh a stage.

A Poem by Nickjohnson

IDK

"

16 acts and it’s not quite over just yet.

Given one part to play, one line to say

Drench me in this fake fantasy, motion

And emotion are pantomime so

Lend me to your immortal mind.

Am I damned, emblazed with infernality?

Stricken by the laughter on your face,

Am I ending, ending in disgrace?

Tear me from the stage, slip your sympathy

Into my drink, and lay me to sleep.

Return to this showing of an intricate story

Now starring someone else, distant from the rest of the cast.

Will I haunt this stage, and your mind?

Or will he be all the words you can't say.

This stage will echo comfort.

This stage will be everything you want

This stage will never close curtain before you are ready.

This stage,  darkens as you turn away.

You hold the spotlights attention, now act!

Pretend to leave, and pretend you ever cared.

Pretend this isn’t a resounding nightmare.

I'm in love with this! o= Great use of repetition & symbolism throughout, for the people who's world revolves around only them - and they can pick & choose who they forget and remember. Really beautiful, and I loved the second to last stanza and the final stanza. What a dramatic finish, similar to the end of a play! Really, really loved this one!
