A sleeper's parableA Poem by NickjohnsonWhen I turn away, I want that chill upon my face. I let you look upon me, and said poisoned hearts never change. Walk away, I know I never changed. Slip the cracks beneath my feet, and Have them flow right through me. Even In hearing you say my heart can’t change I am disgraced, my love. Draw your sword, our souls beckon to Duel. Fight to the death you say, with words, I cringe. I will cripple you, only so you won’t follow me. As you fall my star, encircle me. Embrace me, take the poison from me and Bleed into the ground. Embrace the steps I’ve taken and backtrack to a time When we weren’t alone. Can we stare at the clouds, we never realized What passed us by. Is it you that poisoned this heart of mine? Reach in me deep and find out. Sing me to sleep one last time won’t you? It’s your ability to make me earn this, that makes me Push forward. Sing me to sleep, rest assured, if you start to doze I’ll tuck you in.
