What's the difference between a Side-Kick and a Henchmen?

What really defines being a Side Kick or a Henchman?

Dictionary.com Defines Henchman as follows

Henchman- Trusted attendant, supporter or follower

*An unscrupulous and ruthless subordinate especially criminal

Urban Dictionary.com Defines Henchman as follows-

Henchman- One who follows usually without asking the why, for the side of evil.

Sidekicks- A close friend

Urban Dictionary defines Sidekicks as follows-

Sidekicks- A friend/associate of a more popular charismatic person. The sidekick gains most of his/her acclaim for merely being connected so closely to the more powerful acquaintance.

Alright so we defined what they mean but what makes up the personality of a Sidekick and a Henchman? What makes them different or in some respects the same? Let's see if we can find out.

The same?

In some respects you could say they are kind of the same. They are both people that work for someone more popular then they are. They help whoever it is with the plans they have come up with. They both use weapons to stop each other. Whether using magic, swords, words or anything else.

Different?

The most obvious is that one is working toward an evil goal and the other is working toward a good side goal. One side trying to take down the other person to stop them from foiling their plans.

***But...(I can't believe I am going to say this) like Lady Gaga said "It seems easy, you imagine to gravitate instantly and unwaveringly towards good. How can you something so perfect without evil?"***

Now that is an interesting question isn't it? How can you protect something so perfect without evil? Since they both use weapons to go after each other. Whether to kill them physically or emotionally. There is a potential to do so in most of the Disney movies.

3.Peter Pan -Mr. Smee Henchman- His pistol

4.Little Mermaid- Flotsam and Jetsam - Henchman- Teeth and strength

5.The Jungle book -Baloo Sidekick- Claws and objects in the jungle

6.The Lion King-Timon and Pumba-Sidekicks his speed (Timon) His tusks (pumba)

7.Pocahontas -Meeko Sidekick- Claws

8.101 Dalmatians - Horace and Jasper -Henchmen- Their bats, bare hands or anything

9.Hercules- Pain and Panic- Henchmen- Metamorphosis,immortality, regeneration

10. Mulan-Mushu Sidekick- Fire breath

So whether you want to be a Side kick or a Henchman you guys are basically the same just one is doing evil and the other is not.
