She wants to kill Princess Aurora because she was not invited to the royal christening. So she puts a curse on the princess because of a rude comment made by Merry-weather (good fairy) The curse was She would die on her 16th birthday after pricking her finger on a spinning wheel's spindle. On her 16th birthday Aurora meets Prince Phillip, the son of a king whose own kingdom will soon merge with King Stefan's - and falls in love. Maleficent manages to kidnap the Prince and her horrible prophecy is fulfilled when she tricks Aurora into touching the spindle of a spinning wheel created by Maleficent herself!

She finds out the Ariel wants to be a human so she helps her. Ursula tells Ariel that she will be a human for 3 days and she must get the kiss of true love from Eric to stay human permanently. If she doesn't get the kiss before the sunset of the 3rd day she will belong to her forever. However she tires to get Prince Eric to fall for her instead so Ariel will belong to her so she disguises her self as a human to get Eric. Triton confronts Ursula but cannot destroy Ursula's contract with Ariel. Ursula takes Triton's crown and trident, which was her plan from the beginning. Ursula uses her new power to gloat, transforming into a giant, and forming a whirlpool that disturbs several shipwrecks to the surface, one of which Eric commandeers.
