Your Lips

Your Lips

A Poem by MandaBear
"

I made this for someone I really like so very much. I doubt he will ever see this but here it is. I hope you like it!

"
Your lips are so full and perfect.

I wish I could plant a Hollywood kiss on them.

Something so perfect and so hard to explain.

I would love to kiss them in the rain.

You sing with those pink lips.

Sweet sounds come out of your mouth.

Just to hear you sing is a treat.

I would love to be the mic you sing into.

I wish your lips would meet mine.

I can only imagine the softness of them.

The warmth they must give when they meet.

I would love to be the puzzle piece that fits your lips.

Your lips are the eighth wonder.

Seen by all around the world.

A masterpiece in one place.

I would love my lips to be your eighth wonder.

Your lips are like a treasure of a wondrous tomb.

We see the gold but dare not say their name.

A symbol of power and passions to the tomb robber.

I would love to be your archaeologist.

Your mouth is my drug and your lips are my addiction.

Your lips tease me and call me to kiss them.

Your love is the cure for this poison.

I would love my lips to be your drug.

Your lips are a masterpiece just waiting to be painted.

I would paint the lips which I am so eager to touch.

Like the rays of the sun set passes the horizon,

They bounce back with beautiful rays that sink into the sky.

How I wish to kiss your lips.

To kiss them in the rain.

What I wouldn't do to get that Hollywood feeling.

To get a chance to plant a kiss on your lips.

Well done :) Haven't we all struggled to contain our ourselves and been mesmerized by another's lips? The wetness... just something about kissing being the beginning... :P Beautiful ode to the man you admire from a distance... but not too distant to notice his pink lips :)

Your descriptions were incredible! Each and every stanza elaborated on your feelings without giving it all away right off the bat.

This was a good poem Amanda. I could really sense your desire to kiss this guy you like. You had some beautiful descriptions as well!

lol I'm in love (or so I think) and my boyfriend's lips gross me out. I hate kissing him. This is what I thought about when I read the poem.
As for you poem... it's well written and full of love, lust and emotions. The best poems are ripe with emotions.

The overall structure is pretty good, and you do a good job communicating a central idea. And maybe this is just a difference of styles, but the consistency seems to break down in the poem. In the first few stanzas you create an expectation for the final line, but then disregard it towards the end, which is a shame, because you were doing so beautifully. Otherwise, a really sweet, simple poem.
