Harry S Truman (President #33) (1945-1953)A Chapter by MandaBearThirty Third President of the United States of AmericaHarry S Truman is number 33. Did you know the "S" in his name doesn't stand for anything. I guess if he ever got in trouble it would be easy to yell at him. All you would have to say is Harry Truman you are in big trouble. Harry S Truman was one start cookie. He read every book in his home town library. I wonder how many books they really had? He must have been a fast reader. Harry S Truman was something of a stickler. He insisted that he would wash his own socks and underwear. This all started with his mother. I guess he couldn't get out of it even if he was president. Harry S Truman was the first president to broadcast from the white house over the television. He got to meet the Queen of England. During most of his presidency he didn't live in the white house because it was falling apart. He ended up living in the Blair House across the street. Although while living there he was almost assassinated but the killers were killed. (I guess you could say he dodged that bullet) Harry S Truman strongly supported the creation of the United Nations. He was a key figure in the establishment of the Jewish state in the Palestine Mandate. He had to deal with accusations that the federal government was harboring Soviet spies at the highest level. Funny they should say that because most of the people in office act like communists. (Just kidding please don't be mad) Harry S Truman was the great, great, great nephew of John Tyler. (I am sure he greatly appreciated that) He met his wife Bess in Sunday school when he was only six years old. He also owned a men's clothing store with some other men. He was later voted one of the top ten best dressed congress men. I guess that explains the sock and underwear thing. This is Harry S Truman number 33. He truly was a strange little human. (He was 5'11 and was only 185 pounds) He did good as president. He won WW2 and could play a mean piano. © 2013 MandaBear |
