Andrew Johnson ( President # 17) (1865-1869)A Chapter by MandaBearSeventeenth President of the United States of AmericaAndrew Johnson was number 17. Not to be confused with Andrew Jackson. He was a poor president. His parents were illiterate laborers. Andrew Johnson never attended a day of school. I guess you don't have to know much to become president. He did teach himself to read and write with the help of his wife. Who just so happened to be a teacher. Andrew Johnson was the first president to be impeached. He was accused of breaking the law. The congress felt he was being to nice to the south after the war. However, he was found not guilty by one vote. Andrew Johnson would later become the only ex-president elected to the senate. He was an indentured servant to a tailor. All of this clothes were made by him. I guess you could say he was a real cut up. Andrew Johnson was a father at the age of 19. Later he became a father at 70. 51 one year difference. I guess even other guys need loving too. As the song say- Andrew Johnson's next he had some slight defects. Congress each would impeach. The president spot he just couldn't keep.
