Abraham Lincoln (President #16) (1861-1865)A Chapter by MandaBearSixteenth President of the United States of AmericaAbraham Lincoln is number 16. Did you know he actually hated being called Abe? He was addressed as Mr. Lincoln or just Lincoln. Of course what's in a name? Mr. Lincoln only had one year of formal schooling. Although he read every book he could get his hands on. Mr. Lincoln had many jobs before becoming the president. He was a ferry boat captain, postmaster, and a self taught lawyer. Abraham Lincoln wrote a speech of iconic proportions. "Four score and Seven Years ago" sound familiar? In case you didn't know four score and seven years ago equals 87 years. Score stands for 20 so four 20's is 80 and another 7 is 87. Cool huh. Abraham Lincoln was the only president to obtain a patent. He was the only president to be born outside the original 13 states. He helped build his family's log cabin when he was only 7 years old. Even in his boyhood he wanted to be president. Abraham Lincoln's killer John Wilkes Booth's brother saved Lincoln's son. (Confused?) Robert Todd Lincoln Stood on a train platform in Jersey City, NJ and fell. He was rescued before the train hit him. This happened right before Lincoln got shot. There is no doubt Lincoln was a good president. Of course there were faults and cracks along the way. Abraham Lincoln was shot in the head. I guess you could say his mind was blown. © 2013 MandaBearReviews
