My ReligionA Poem by nickdaman6One of my better poems, I believe. Music is my religion, so I expressed it in poetry. It is part of my poetry and song book, Of Sadness, Of Gladness, Of Little Things: A Book of Poetry and Songs.Music is my religion. Listening
to the melodious riffs of
Kurt Cobain and Hendrix is my
psalm reading on
Sundays.
The
crunchy and raw solos and
improve of John Frusciante are my
moments of prayer, of peace. Listening
to each note, that’s
each prayerful bead and word to me.
Those
sweet, smooth blues jam sessions of B.B.
King and Eric Clapton, those
are my masses, my
sessions of religion.
The
intense bass lines of Giddy Lee, and
the powerful, pounding drums of
Neil Peart are my moments of
communion. When the music is at
its climax, when it moves through
you the most.
The
emotional and ever-lasting songs of
John Lennon and George Harrison. They
are my preachers, they
are my priests, they
are the ones who convey meaningful
things into words.
If
everyone accepted music
as their religion, how do
you think the world would
be? I
think it would be a harmonious world, one of
peace, of love, of melody. © 2014 nickdaman6Author's Note
