The Voice

The Voice

A Poem by Nickalas Cannon

I can hear it-
It calls my name-
Morning to night-
Never a break in between-

I no longer sleep-
My eyes are unshut-
The voice can not be muted- Hushed- Speechless

I scream at the heavens-
Toss and turn-
Crash to the floor and pray-
Pray for it all to end-

My hands take hold of my head-
Trying to block the voice-
It becomes louder-

Calling for me-
Calling continuously-

I run-
Run through the never ending woods-
I drop in front of the grave-
The grave of the one who is lost-
My hand touches the stone-
Gliding down on the engravings-

Flowers bloom-
Light shines down from above-
I run to hold it-
I must be in never-never land-
No- This is paradise
The place the voice brought me to-

I was told- It can all end
Only with a tear-
