Night and Day

Night and Day

A Poem by Nickalas Cannon
"

A woman experiences night and day.

"
My feet touch the open, cold floor-
My hand creeps to the door-
I come to the end of the stairs-
To only leave a cabin behind me-

I step to the ground bare-
Soft, moist, and free-
It only seems fair-
To roam the celstial body-

It casts a bright, white light-
For only me to see-
As my fingers touch the open blades-
I open my eyes-Stop in my tracks-Looking for a hopeful gaze

The wind braces my hair-
My light runs away though-
From me-
Or its enemy-
But it begins to brighten-
From his friend-The star
I feel a connection-
To only them both-Not for me
I have freedom, strength, and love for this land-

I once had a connection with Sun & Moon-
But I had my life with Night & Day-

This has a very deep texture to it; the wording and phrasing are very well done. I like the juxtaposition of time and sensory feelings; sun and the moon, hard and the soft, stillness and the wind. You have crafted something that is both subtle, and yet speaks loudly enough to be heard, if that makes sense. I really enjoyed it.

I love poems like this. Ones that put us not only in the eyes of another person, but in their skin. Well done once again :)

This seems very delicate in wording on the tongue to me. Wonderful feelings of the physical in this. The cold stone floor, the door, the wind in the hair... All easily felt as one reads.

A wonderful piece. :)
