Relapse, Rinse, RepeatA Poem by sharingsmoke14 months.
I'm lost at sea.
I'm leagues away from land, nothing but deep blue surrounding as far as the bright eye can see. Treading water, but I've never been a true swimmer. My legs are working hard to keep my chin above the wave's crest - I dip, and dip again. Intake of breath, intake of ocean. Waterlogged lungs. Oh, no! It's been a year past since I've taken in salt, it slices through me. Self inflicted, and saline. Sting. I shouldn't have left land, this is my fault, and mine alone.
