Relapse, Rinse, Repeat

Relapse, Rinse, Repeat

A Poem by sharingsmoke
"

14 months.

"
I'm lost at sea.
I'm leagues away from land, nothing but deep blue surrounding as far as the bright eye can see.
Treading water, but I've never been a true swimmer.
My legs are working hard to keep my chin above the wave's crest -
I dip, and dip again.
Intake of breath, intake of ocean.
Waterlogged lungs.
Oh, no! It's been a year past since I've taken in salt, it slices through me.
Self inflicted, and saline.
Sting.
I shouldn't have left land, this is my fault, and mine alone.

The imagery in this is amazing ans I like how you tie it into relapse. I was surprised by the last few words about it being your fault. I think ending on the word alone really solidified the image of despair and turmoil.
