Song of the SirenA Poem by fishballlisten to the whispers of the sea
My fingertips touch the edge of the horizon
As I feel the sea foam washing over my feet Softly, it melts the sand underneath And draws me in to the sight of the sea The mind wanders among thoughts from before Seeking to remove an unbearable weight Even stumbling upon trenches, unexplored With the current that carries an unknown fate Plunging into the depths of the rough waters The song of an alluring voice can be heard With warmth and adoration found in each verse It guides me as though I'm a sheep to the shepherd Through the vastness enveloped in darkness The lost soul spirals further from awareness Within this dream, I am already under a spell As a child held captive, locked in my own cell As the blue fades to black and finally a blood red I realize I am alone with the voice inside my head Revealing its true colors as the terrifying shrieks in a piercing tone The once angelic singing was never leading me home Searching for the silence that will deafen the noise I cup my hands on my ears to find the eye of the storm Find the waves that will help me drift back to shore Turn the tides of fate and save my life once more Waking up to the sound of the waves crashing by the rocks The slight bit of fantasy I held suddenly turns to dust Swept away by the gentle breeze, a gift from the sea While the sun flushes out the shadows with its radiant beams Despite the fear carved in my heart There is a voice I long to hear Forever etched and sealed in my memory Is the song from a daughter of the sea
