QuestionsA Poem by nfydLife is full of questions.“Questions” Rain
pours down as we soon forget Everyone
in life who we have ever met Each
moment we have loved and lost Have
caused us to pay the ultimate cost We
are not who we were meant to be We
are not enjoying life as others can see We
lose ourselves in a world not meant for you or I We
move forward without ever asking why We
will not ask why we let mistakes bother us so much We
will not ask why we use each stumble as a crutch We
will not ask why we hold back from our potential We
will not ask why we refuse to become influential We
will not ask why we let each day pass us by We
will not ask why we do not live as though we are going to die We
stand down and do not fight There
is no end in sight This
is the way life has always been So
we accept it and never again ask when We
will not ask when the sky will become clear We
will not ask when we will overcome fear We will
not ask when the sun will rise We
will not ask when we will face our own demise We
will not ask when we will gain wisdom We
will not ask when we will no longer be a victim We
will not ask when the grass will turn green We
allow each moment to get lost in a sea of regret The
rain comes down and soon we are dripping wet We
are broken beyond any possibility of repair We
live our lives without any hope or care We
have been this way from the very start Deep
down our misery is for the faint of heart Each
person understands their own sense of pain They
live their life in downpour of a never ending rain
We
accept the feeling of being numb We
accept the break of our pride We
accept life and its great divide There
are too many things society tells us we must do There
are too many things we pretend as though we knew The
deadline for each thing might come and go We
keep falling short and will never know Our lives
are planned out the moment we are born Throughout
adolescence we become torn We
fail to meet each standard which has been set Although
society’s goals might never be met We
are supposed to go to college and fall in love with the first person we meet Our
lives will intertwine, our love will grow, and everything else with take a
backseat We
are supposed to graduate college by the time we turn twenty-two We
will graduate with honors, be pursued by large companies, and know what is true We
are supposed to be married by the time we turn twenty-five Say
“I do” and you will never have felt so alive In a
few months our first child is on the way When
we hear those tears our troubles will go away This
is the path we are destined to take If
we do not, we are destined to break Society
wants each of these things to come true We
fail to take a step back and ask of who We
will not ask who the one is who steals our heart We
will not ask who will be there at the start We
will not ask who will pick us up when we fall We
will not ask who will be at the end standing tall We
will not ask who will try to break us on our path We
will not ask who will face our devastating wrath We
will not ask who will guide our journey in life We
will not ask who will guide us through the strife We
do not ask because questions are unfit We
keep going until we are ready to quit Events
come and go and we are left unaware Society
wants these events, but we need to ask where Where
will we find true love? Where
will we be pushed to our limit? Where
will we want to travel and visit? Where
will we build our living tower? Questions
arise as we break off from what we were told We
take each aspect of life and form our own distinct mold The
work is never finished, the door will never shut We
push ahead fighting while always asking what What
will we do with each moment we are given? What
will we do to push ourselves to always be driven? What
will be the reason we make it to tomorrow? What
will be the reason why we feel sorrow? What
will life bring us when we are content? What
will each moment in our lives have meant? What
will we be doing 20 years from today? What
will we be doing to further our own way? Do
not be held back by what society expects from you Each
person has their own journey and distinct breakthrough Better
yourself so one day you can look back and say, wow You
have overcome predeterminations because you asked how How
will you fight your greatest war? How
will you enable yourself to soar? How
will you climb to the highest peak? How
will you enable yourself to never be weak? How
will you show the world what it could have had? How
will you rise above all you are expected to know? How
will you enable yourself to grow? Events
in life will cause our pace to be slowed We
fail to remember that everyone travels a different road So
do not compare your journey to another Each
person is unique from the other Wake
up and live your life because you have a new day Wake
up and be happy that you are making your own way Wake
up and remember that the past cannot hurt you now Wake
up and remember your own personal vow Do
not struggle with what has not come Do
not feel as though you are dumb Do
not forget your roots in what you believe Do
not forget what you hope to one day achieve From
these words find meaning in your heart You
are too strong to continue to fall apart So
take these words with every ounce of pride In
this life you shall no longer be denied © 2020 nfyd |
