StrengthA Poem by Haley Smith
He can play me a tune.
He can take me to Pensacola in the middle of June; He can sing at the top of his lungs til every song in the world has been sung I'm my own pillar hold myself up; a fortress that can never be knocked down. He can be tender, but he's got to have a backbone; He can be slender but I need strong arms Strength He's got to have more than me-- strength. I've got plenty. Strength, He can't only match me but must exceed in my strength. I've got my emotions in check and so must he. I haven't got the patience for self-pity and "Woe is me". He can be a bit soft but needs to have the hard edge; write for me but still fight for me. Strength He's got to have more than me-- strength. I've got plenty. Strength, He can't only match me but must exceed in my strength. © 2009 Haley Smith |
