Suburban Thuggin'

Suburban Thuggin'

A Poem by Haley Smith

If you'd put down your drink
Maybe you could think
and get your hands up off of me

If you'd pinch out your blunt
stop acting like a c**t
I can't stand what you're putting on, this front

Movin' your lips bout tricks and hoes
and your ice, kicks, and clothes
I don't hear a thing cuz my ears are closed

You say you know the hood life
sellin bricks and this, well you're trife--
--lin, carrying around your rubber knife,
but no rubbers

Your pants hang off your a*s
and you skip class... just cuz you can
Do you skip it cuz you have none?

Rockin' your new stolen gear
Filling everyone with fake fear
Even though Daddy makes 250k a year

Pumpin up the bass real loud
gettin higher than a cloud
Oh lord I just don't understand how

No condom cuz it's cool
and you want to rule
the bedroom, well in 9 months
won't you look like a fool?

In the park, you're muggin
and me, you're buggin
with your suburban thuggin'

Coming from a woman, this has so much more meaning to it. I'm glad to see that you're able to put a young man in his place and live above all of that television stuff. People who don't know who they are these days would rather be something else, than to find out who/what they CAN be.

Dope piece, youngin'....

I loved this poem. It seriously makes you think about the black youth of America and how they're wasting their life away, trying to be something that they're not. This can most definitely be a dangerous thing to mess with in today's society. Great write!

Well said youngn!
You know, I live in Iowa now, and I see all these kids,
and supposedly grown A** men runnin around claimin this,
and sayin they bangin, but not one of these folks could survive
in North Memphis where I was raised.
Good one here!!

Talent, talent, talent. I know the face you're talking about. Your words need to be shouted to those fakes who don't know the true gangster world, the one that that had principles and meaning. This terroizing aint cool.

Well written and should be shouted out. These young men front, and think they're cool. You aint cool with a bullet in your head laying in a coffin.
