my grandfatherA Poem by bellaLook at your grandmother With her soft, childlike eyes Look at the old man at the grocery store Aged well beyond his years Look at the woman gardening Caring tenderly for her roses Watch as the wrinkles form their face And their thin lips curving upward to form a polite smile But these people were young once too Your grandmother was a little girl Dreaming of a big wedding The man was a little boy Dreaming of being a soldier That woman wanted to be president Practicing her speech in the mirror And then they were teenagers Your grandmother had her first love The man got drafted That woman's dreams were crushed In their 20’s Your grandmother got married The man came back looking 20 years older That woman graduated college And they continued to live their lives Ensuring their soul was happy Their eyes stayed youthful as ever Reminiscing on their adventures in between And that's all we see now © 2017 bellaReviews
