Cruzando el puente- Crossing the bridge

Cruzando el puente- Crossing the bridge

A Poem by Sari Segale
"

I wrote this poem when I got my american citizenship!!!

"
CRUZANDO EL PUENTE
Cruzando el puente,
cruzando la niebla,
la ciudad blanca,
cuarenta años de libertad;
de ser yo, de crecer, soñar,
he cruzado este puente,
muchas veces;
esta vez para poner broche de oro,
a estos cuarenta años.
He caminado estas calles,
tantas veces,
sintiendo extranjera,
en mi casa adoptiva
otra vez cruzo el puente,
para firmar El papel,
libertad para amar, hablar y soñar,
¡solo un papel!.

CROSSING THE BRIDGE
Crossing the bridge,
crossing the mist,
white city,
forty years of freedom ,
being myself, grow, dream,
I crossed the bridge,
many times;
this time to close with a golden pin,
this forty years,
I walked this streets,
so many times!!
feeling alien, foreigner……
in my adopted home;
I crossed this bridge,
one more time,
to sign The paper,
freedom of expression,
freedom to love, to dream, to gather,
just a paper!!

Whao.
Seemed, am quite addicted to reading ur bountiful work. U capture the stories in poetry - the stories that portray how the metaphor feels something what the world norms have her wrapped into. Loved the captions of... "crossing the bridge". Lovely! Loomed, u walked throu' many streets.. when the mist was down & emptiness would b one on ur surround. U looked..searched 4 everything whatever keep u alive bt it was nothing more than just an aid of love or gone memories that brought or may be, drawn u to somewhere u were unaware of: "The Paradox Of Life". Excellent. I guess, u here talking of the journey of metaphor's life that how she trembled over the scenario of world & reached anew place to inhabitate into so far away off her own home town. Quite interesting!

ps. U come up with something latest..after a long time. No? Seem do, u've been quite busy lately. Hope u b in touch now. Keep it up, Sweetie.

I am glad that you are bilingual, as I would have missed your work otherwise. Love how you build up to the last line, where you say it is just a paper. You are absolutely correct. You were the same person before you received the paper as you were after. Only the name changed. I wish you luck in your new country. Keep writing.
