Finite

Finite

A Poem by New Theory

Finite
In all there glory
I see only that what is present in front of me.
Fire breathing monsters are not immortal
They are like everything perishable
Darkness too will end someday
Under the cover of light
Running away from it, it will find some other ally
On the verge another universe shall begin
With new laws and realities
That will beckon into nothingness
It will be vast and fulfilling
Yet I am sitting here thinking about finite.
How stupid is that??

" Fire breathing monsters are not immortal "

This particular line seems to resonate the most within me both because of the imagery conveyed and the meaning behind the line, as well as what I perceive to be the strong emotion strengthening the overall message behind your poetry. It was, as a whole, a piece that seemed to tackle the concept of including the broad spectrum of the universe and was intriguing as a whole. Although, one might note, comparing anything to the sheer size of the universe would make everything seem irrelevant. Why would the finite compare when it resides within the realm of seeming infinity? Well, many reasons. Our little slice of the universe is most likely the only slice we will ever have to perceive and the only slice wherein we are relevant, and we should devote our time to ensuring that our issues are resolved and our existence, however short compared to the span of the universe, is quite comfortable.

I adored the thoughts that came with this. Well done.

Thank you :) anne
Not sure what makes it experimental, unless you just mean different for you. It is a good poem with clever images. I think you meant their, and not there. I am not sure about the line "thinking about finite" -- thinking about what is finite?
