Crashing down

Crashing down

A Poem by New New

It will all come crashing down
Years of waiting will finally pay off
All the torment and heartbreak,
I hope you're prepared
You won't see this coming
You'll be too absorbed in yourself, as always
Now I get to call the shots
When you finally get off your high horse,
And you once again rejoin the world
I'll tell them to aim for your head
Seeing as you don't have a heart.

"And you once again rejoin the world..." I really like this line. It's a little more abstract than the rest of the poem, but it speaks volumes. For me, it seems like the poet has watched this person live in an egotistical bubble for a very long time. But, I also sense a betrayal here? "Seeing as you don't have a heart," suggests a past transgression that left the poet wounded, and they're getting their revenge by turning the rest of the population against them. A lot said in such a short piece. Looking forward to reading more of your work.
