A Poem by Ariana Omnomnom
Poem about my childhood regarding my father.
It really wasn't all that bad
To have a mean, abusive dad
Sometimes he was nice to me
Have fun, and giggle, and be free
Dad was not so kind at all
Hit and punch me, make me fall
Dad doesn't understand
I'm not on the wagon-band
On the days when life was good
I never knew my neighborhood
But sometimes, out I'd go
For a walk, not in the snow
When I was just a little kid
Sometimes I really hid
Dad was scary, dad was mean
Dad would shout, and I would scream
He kept me in so I would stay
Away from boys, cannot play
Nary a friend did I possess
And I had lots of stress
But here and there
The routine would tear
And a day would be nice
I didn't have time to think it twice
Daddy just didn't know
Sometimes I really wonder though
Was it just a patience thing?
Or was it me? Ring, ring, ring

Unfortunately, we always believe that we play some part in the abuse exacted upon us by those we love. You write with clarity and honesty ,two elements of good writing. Your opening lines set-us-up but you soon divulge the relationship between father and child. Good write!
