The Flower

The Flower

A Poem by Never Good Enough
"

Maybe damaged isn't ruined.

"

I threw a flower into the ocean

It danced and drifed so causually laughing at the shore.

It sailed farther and farther away, thinking it was bound for greatness.

Making its great escape, it was...

Determined never to return.

But then the skys darkened, and the seas turned rough.

Sailing became violent and it lost some of it's beautiful petals.

Tossed to and fro, it felt the cold wind and was beaten against the unforgiving rocks.

The fragile flower finally gave up it's fight.

Somewhere late in the dark night it washed up on the very same shore it had left from.

Now worn from it's journy and no longer formitable, it lay alone in the wet sand.

As I walked along the beach, I found a flower.

A little damaged, but beautiful I thought to myself.

I think I'll keep it.

I like the ending to the poem. I like the return of the flower from the sender. The sea is powerful and control the emotion of life and the simple flower. Thank you for a excellent poem.

I like this - I can't explain to myself why, but there's just something nice and ... bittersweet? about it - thank you for the great and interesting read! Favorited !
