Complex organic molecules found far away

A Story by neurostar burns

At the incredible distance of over 12 billion light years away JWST has the sensitivity in infrared to detect complex organic molecules in a galaxy. The satellite has the ability to see through dust and other obscuring particles which hampered observations in the past. The particular galaxy is designated SPT0418-47.
The search was also enhanced by utilizing an Einstein Ring which acts like a magnifying glass.
The finding is notable as this indicates such chemical activity so early in the history of the universe. The elements found are PAH, Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbon.  Such carbon chains are considered the basic building blocks for life. The success of this finding allows the opportunity that future endeavors should follow in this line of research.
This article is presented by Lois Yoksoulian of the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and will be released in the journal "Nature".
