New for Drake Equation

The Drake Equation was postulated some decades ago. It's intention is to produce a formula that would

analyze the possibilities (numerically) of the situation percentages that would be conducive to development

of an intelligent civilization in the universe.

Note that this above statement is an example of being thought out.

Intelligence then is essential for this equation to succeed.

Thereupon, a new element should be added to bolster the Drake composition.

"Nm". As has been addressed in a prior entry, To have a civilization which will explore

and communicate with potential others, one needs also Nm. The m stands for

motivation. It would probably be placed after the symbol for intelligence Ni in the Drake formula.

There may be possible advanced civilizations out there but they might not develop

motivation to look for others. Highly likely motivation could be missing, and not viewed as

a necessity in such societies.

They may limit their awareness to local surroundings and seek no further, nor develop any inclination nor entertain such acumen. They may feel content to live with the environment that they presently experience. Outer reaches may not strike them as significantly contributive.

If Earth is an example, then by population, it is evident the percentage/ratio  of scientists and people who are elsewhere actively pursuing  intelligent life for will be very small and this would well be elsewhere in the universe and reflect the industrial attention that would be spent toward outward exploration by others in their priorities. As is evident in the population of this planet, the ratio of seeking scientists is quite small and conditional.
