"End of world"-needed perspective!

"End of world"-needed perspective!

A Story by neurostar burns

I was really, really taken by surprise what I read on an 2020 interview with a science author.  It was shocking that in the 21st century some people react with the maturity of 19th century views. The female author was asked how do people react to her lectures on the end of the entire universe.  She indicated that some of the audience don't want to hear it at all, some walked out distressed about the end, some sat there and bawled.
I wonder what became of information and education that taught to look at perspective and scope? What are people assuming/learning? Can they not at least put perspective that learning usually is presented as past, present and to come (future)?
People should be able to grasp that life is depicted as evolving, not static. There are references to past, present and future throughout with changes occurring. So the science professor is providing input about the end of the universe, but it is not occurring in present time. Little reason to be bowled over by information. The events that are usually depicted for the end of universe as a process are at the earliest 18 million years away and most put the process as 40 billion out to at least 10 trillion years from now. Hardly any reason to start feeling personally involved at the attempts at prognostication. The universe does show some instabilities which could suddenly erupt and do in a lot of it. But with modern machinery, it is read to be unlikely, and not beyond detection. So there really is no reason to take such lectures out of context if they are properly regarded and in the proper perspective for assessing information. Which should be taught/learned.
