The universe of itself, aloneA Story by neurostar burnsA universe (galaxy) all alone, by itself. Real or not? That was something our early theorists like Einstein pondered a century ago. Could there be a universe (galaxy) that is all by itself? (In early 1920's, Harlow Shapley, for one, held that all that is seen is within one galactic body, Milky Way). Nothing else out there to see or find. In time since then, astronomers have shown other wise. There are plenty of galaxies, galaxy clusters. It could happen that it will develop a singular universe if it condenses, falls in on itself. Yet, science show the odds known are against that. Science speculation: Can there be a body that seems to be all by itself? There is, upon reflection of the makeup of our universe. Not much paid attention to, there are voids. Very big, empty voids that are greater than 250 million light years across. 'Underdense', there will not be found much at all in them. Suppose in one of those empty-like voids there is a star and a solar system all alone. It would be in great darkness and cold. Suppose other than that star there is 100 million light years or more all around it of unlit space. Allow that an intelligent civilization arose at it. They would look into a sky that is all black. No other lights to detect. A few might wonder if there are other bodies, but they are surrounded by dark. No way to discern. They find themselves alone. Nothing more to go by. If they were inclined to explore outwardly, would it be worth it to them? What incentive to put energies into such projects when they perceive themselves alone surrounded in darkness? Likely they would conclude that their existence in isolation is what the universe is. This is the only situation possible for them to likely conclude. They indeed would live the speculation of Einstein, Shapley and others of a hundred years ago that the universe is comprised of only an isolated composition of all they perceive and is known to them. (a closed universe?) The rest of the cosmos will be unknown to them. How would those isolated beings accordingly arrange their living? It would be prefaced on living in isolation. They would assume they are the only site of civilization (and turn isocentric). Would even a holograph concept be of any help? [If, over very long time, the Milky Way Galaxy f a i l s to escape the large Tully void that it is next to, which it is attempting at great speed. Then, it will be pulled into the void and will become one of the sparse bodies that occupy the voidness. It may become something of a companion with the other dwarf galaxy, which is one of the darkest galaxies in space, that resides in the Tully Void, KK 246, aka ESO 461-036.] ..............................…....................................... Project 0-an Setting: Deep in giant cosmic void Conditions: Deep, unlit dark, of over 100 million light years Single planet system in isolation Few orbiting planets, fewer than 8 Temperature condition, freezing due to dark, unheated sky with a minimal heat producing white dwarf star, most of existing planets are frozen atmospheres in ovoid orbits. No other bodies to draw heat from or exchange heatable material. Two planets have limited geothermal heat and shallow atmospheres. Their surfaces are ice crusted with crevices and caverns wherein on one a civilization sprung, not very warm blooded Mostly resided subterranean The intelligent denizens walk in a half crouch, can pluck things from the low ceilings. Make their own heat in the freeze dry and fire. They farm small plots of lichen and small tubers. Surface vegetation is sparse and scrawny © 2020 neurostar burns |
