subversive cosmic voids

A Story by neurostar burns

After decades of being in shadow in cosmic studies, the role of cosmic voids studied for decades by the likes of Paul M. Sutter, Guilhem Lavaux, Benjamin D. Wandelt, Nico Hamaus and others brings forth the considerable weight that voids have in their place and influence on the universe.
Physical Review Letter 117.091302, or arxiv.org 1602.01784
In earlier years it has been calculated that the sum total measure of voids in the universe has been 40% but recalculations and discoveries puts it more at 60% or even more. The matter attracts to itself and so the space they occupied is given up, and the voids no longer constrained by the presence of matter are ballooning out filling the space forfeited by matter and so increase their percentage in the universe. So, roughly, matter is being supplanted or displaced by voids as matter contracts. So the voids are expanding, like a balloon. They will continue to expand and interface and merge. It may well be in the extreme future that the universe will consist of only one big void.
