Last Bastions of Buddhism

Last Bastions of Buddhism

A Story by neurostar burns

In our present generations, we will bear witness to the turning of some of the most venerated countries believed to hold nonviolence for thousands of years turn to combat.
Long hailed as the bastions of peaceful living, now violence and combat occur in these venerated countries of which even the world looked to them as examples of the practice of peaceful living. These, in our present times, include Sri Lanka, Myanmar (Burma), Thailand, as had Vietnam, Cambodia, and earlier, China. Although these may be termed 'last bastions', Buddhism is not nationality based or dependent, there is not country that is Buddhist, it is in some cases adopted as national religion but not to be beholden to boundaries or hosts or sponsors.
While in the past the countries did have armed personnel, they were used to keep order in their respective communities, they were not used to seek out and visit violent acts. (#1-do no harm)
Those countries which may be considered not caught up in the current violence trend could be Bhutan, Taiwan, Laos, Mongolia, Tibet, Kalmykia . Centuries ago, Buddhism was known from Japan to the Black Sea (and even Alexandria), Sri Lanka and Thailand to the middle of Siberia.
