Gathering the Dark Cosmos-DESIA Story by neurostar burnsLooking at the universe differently. The DESI (Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument) will view the cosmos in different spectrum(s). A 1.1 meter lense has tested successfully in early April 2019. It will be a 375 ton telescope that will be located near Tuscon, Az. Several years in the making, many agencies have contributed to the construction of the Mayall Telescope. It will have a 5 year mission. It will concentrate on different spectra than other previous cosmos efforts, including the Planck Satellite. DESI will take thousands of points of light of space in one, single picture. Light back to 12 billion years and tens of millions of galaxies are to be captured and is also to map the expansion of the cosmos are its objectives. Collected through numerous fiber optic cables of fine micron size will then be divided into spectrums.
