Time's Arrow Is Reversible !

A Story by neurostar burns

The directional flow of time can be reversed. At the quantum level. By a laboratory with a team of international scientists, early Nov. 2017. This was already conceived earlier in theoretical physics. But, it had not been demonstrated in science until recently. The team was lead by Kaonan Micadei.

Usually the 'Arrow' (dubbed by Arthur Eddington) is associated with the second law of thermodynamics and is depicted as going "forward". This new result proves the direction of the "Arrow" is a relative concept, not absolute. The situation may depend on the initial conditions which are not found preset at the quantum level in regards as to what direction the Arrow may operate, if any direction at all*.

They find, "the direction of the arrow is reversed whenever the decrease of mutual information compensates the entropy production. The fact that initial correlations may be used to decrease entropy." "We observed the standard arrow of time in the absence of initial correlations." "In this case, quantum correlations are converted into energy and used to switch the direction of the heat flow, in an apparent violation of the second law."

Typically, a hot atom nucleus sends its heat to a colder atom nucleus. With the experiment, the hot went to heat up the heated atom and the cold atom would get colder, or the heat of the cold atom goes to the hot atom. This amounts to a reversal. This runs contrary to what is the common process of direction of heat transfer.
