Free as a bird?

Free as a bird?

A Story by neurostar burns

We look up at the sky and see a bird flying or soaring and we think what freedom they enjoy, and we don't. So little hindrance in the air.

And we wonder, should they be endowed with abundances of information. After all they cover much territory by flying and see much more than land based animals. They must absorb a  lot and could know so much more.

Can anything seemly slow them down? Any obstacle to these marvelous sky travelers? Consider, in contrast to land based animals that simply can rest on the ground, the exalted birds do tire in the air and so must resort to the land to take rest. Which means most do not remain air borne and are dependent upon the terrain to rest and nest.

I like the attempted analogy but birds can sleep in flight.
I do agree that they are not the 'free' creatures that poetry, prose and lyrics would have us believe.
