the fox in the yard seems like a paranoiac to me.

he hears the footfalls greet the ground

and runs away behind the house,

through the fence,

out the back,

making haste,

after day, running

four-legged

over field and glen . . .

politicians in Whitehall mansions create war far abroad.

soldiers kill like sub-evolutionary throwbacks

to Neanderthal age in need of veterinary aid.

a robin redbreast is caged, diagnosed sick, and electro-shocked

by health care professionals.

prince Phillip blows out bits of brain from skull of a mother

Elephant,

her baby tries to feed and suckle from the n*****s of her dead carcass.

the queen is amused.

but the fox,

a little crazy, a little sad, a little angry, a little mad

lays down in deep dreams tonight

safe and sound,

with Vixen, and

cub
