A Poem by J.M.B

the bankrupt aristocrat

receives benefit payment,

slumps across street,

scanning bookstores

for mind food,

a vanilla sugar

poetry book, a gourmet

novel, a nouveaux cuisine

starter soup of short stories,

drifts hedonically

back to base,

hungry for new tastes,

muttering

many-headed zeteticism

to

himself

with

cool-aid psychology

and thoughts of born again bursts

of hip-hop telepathy

inspired

by the unintentional tyrant, the

questioner, in chains

of self arrest,

his tricks,

his traps,

(the memory drifts) . . .

sips coffee,

and another,

(detached)

puffs on cigarette,

and another,

(repeats)

eats.

reads.
