Breeder

Breeder

A Poem by J.M.B

i saw the stars tonight.
i attuned my eyes to their
brightness,
with skyward gaze.
they were just as they
should be.
high.
and i wondered,
why was my philosophy
so low?
earthbound?
tainted by infantile silliness,
material affairs,
filled with emotional hook
soap operas
to impeach like bacteria
on minds all-electric
in worlds still asleep
and warring

beneath parties of delights,
beneath intelligence, civility,
occult dimensions,
arcane awakenings

and fractal homes.

and i shook my head.
contemplated Plato.

then the Count of Monte
Cristo.

and made my way
back to the earthbound
infants

resolving
shortly afterwards

to call my next novel

BREEDER!

hook line and sinker Justin, your words are always freshly splashed on the page.

I cannot think of a poet more contemporary and fun to read, than you are!

I'd read all of your poems in an afternoon, you know, if they were printed out in a chapbook or something.
