poured down with droplets of water
after steam first arose
out of the furious fires of earth . . .
it was the clouds
that became the seas,
and then the seas that did it all,
as solar light shone,
fathering single cells,
and a million hungry mouths
that swam,
some toward the shores of foreign sands,
it was the sun that did it all then,
like the rains that fell as well,
and the earth that turned before brains evolved,
and too afterwards as well,
the rest . . .
