Capitalism

Capitalism

A Poem by J.M.B
"

it was actually inspired by something i half recalled the British philosopher Alan Watts having said . . .

"

you're free,

so long as you do
what we want you to do,
what we tell you to do,

but you have to do it
of your own free volition

or we will condemn you
for not fitting in,

for being different,
for not joining us . . .

but it's your own free
choice

...
. brilliantly said, monsieur ... this is so stark and so powerfully expressed ... and yet so poetic and so true ... and ... this is pretty much the story of my life so far ... one day, i just stopped fitting in ... and that day ... even my sanity was questioned ... my ability to choose was questioned ...
