even the cats

even the cats

A Poem by J.M.B

the laughter ended last time

i saw you

when you whisked away

to Brixton Station

amidst

red carriage engine roar,

and i hobbled home

from bus-stop over cracked

concrete

like Cinderella, after ball,

all disjointed

and asymmetric

with time

somewhat out of synch,

i love you Jaci,

and if we’re allowed to begin

our lives together

with fondness and fun,

as

lovers should,

i’ll even

love your cats
