Where I'm FromA Poem by Antoinette ChavisThis is for the readers that don't know alot about me...(let me summarize my life)645 West State Street thats were you can locate me. Im Kind of from a broken home. Every other day bows get thrown, in the house or on the streets. Look hard enough you'll see police. Step Dad can't keep his hands to himself, every other week he in jail. Brother don't know right from wrong, all he really cares about is writting that song. Apendik swolen I was there, broke her leg I still cared, she get a could i got her back- Mommy loved me I loved her back.
Im from chilli Tuesday's, Pizza Friday, and if we weren't on schedule we have to help our self. I'm from a complex and three bedroom homes. We doubled up in there. FIVE brothers, TWO sisters GoodWill was the only answer. Christmas wasn't big on us. Our mouths to feed plus family. THIS IS WERE IM FROM CAN YOU HANDLE ME...
In the middle of a crime every where you turn. Bad decisions are alawys made, make you wonder if we should still be slaves.
Darian I knew since grade three, the only boy that understood me. Growing up with him was fun. But he chose to live by the gun. ONLY THING IN LIFED I LOVED WAS ALMOST LOST
I'm from segregated, because I'm me, some people understand me. I'm darker than most but they're all lighter than me. LIVING LIKE ME IS NEVER EASY, THIS IS WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT ME NOW HOW BOUT YOU ENLIGHTEN ME.. © 2009 Antoinette Chavis |
