Chapter 6

Chapter 6

A Chapter by Arianna

An hour later Beckey was still the one Babysitting her and Jane wasn’t any happier about it. However she didn’t seem to be able to get the freak to go away, no matter how much she bitched and moaned and threatened to get her fired she just kept on smileing. It was irritating, like a snake whos head you chop off just to find two more in its place.

Jane was running low on options but she realized that idle threats wernt going to work on this woman she had to follow through, she really had to do something. She had to make something happen or this woman was just going to be here smiley as ever in her face every day of her life until she got out of this horrid hospital. Jane almost cried at the thought of it but didn’t she perked her voice up a bit and put on her best cheerleading captin smile and got ready to do the most horrific thing in the whole world.

“hey becks.” She called over to the blonde that had sat down on the sofa legs crossed perfectly reading a bridal magazine. “ ohmighosh are you like getting married?’ she asked gestureing to the magazine in her hand, still grinning a grin that she always thought made the peppy girls look like they had just got away with murder but apparently just ment you were happy.

The nurse smiled cautiously put off by the sudden happiness of her patient. Though she soon attributed it to good nursing and reasoned that her chipper attitude had finaly rubbed off on her. “ yeah, his name is derrek. Pre law, we’re getting married this summer isn’t it fantastic!” Beckey just grinned so much that it hurt Jane’s head.

Jane resisted the urge to throw up a bit in her mouth but instead smiled and said “what a catch, whats his name?” Becky faltered for a second and in that second Jane knew she had her. She had something she could destroy her with, or at least something that would make her get the f**k out of her room.

“David Matthews” she smiled hoping that Jane hadn’t caught her hesitation and that she wouldn’t realize what this ment.

“As in Clinton Matthews’ son David Matthews, the head of THIS hospital.” Jane smiled now she knew why the nurse showed no fear when she threatened to fire her, her imposing nuptuals outranked Jane’s money and she knew it. Unfortionatly for Becky, Jane was smarter than her. “ Isn’t he like… gay?” Jane smiled she wasn’t really lieing after all. She prided herself in her ability to pull things like this off with the minimal amount of lieing involved.

When she had known David he had been gay, a flamingly gay teenage boy that had come to help out in the hospital that his father run as volunteer hours after high school. He had brought multiple boyfriends with him to do the job as well most of whom she liked, David was a really nice guy. What he was doing with this... Giggeling Banshee she had no idea.

Jane however was not telling the whole truth, she did know that David had announced during College that he was “straight” not that she had acculy belived him. She thought it was a plan that his parents had concocted seeing as they only had one son and they wanted grandchildren. She was under the impression that his straightness was forced, which would explain Becky.

“at least the last time I was in the hospital as a little girl he was, him and his boyfriend used to come and take care of me, I didn’t really have many visitors.” Jane smiled knowing that that had most likely done enough damage to make Becky need to go home and figure out if all this was true.

She was right becky stood up not five seconds later, “um if you’ll excuse me, I must be… ill get another nurse to come in and take care of you…” Jane frowned a bit, she really did feel bad about outing david it wasn’t his fault that this horrible lady was his Bride to be. If all the assumptions that she was making were correct, then him and his parents would be none too happy about this little secret getting out. But she couldn’t stand to be with that lady a second later, and honestly maybe they would find a new girl that wasn’t so hideously aweful this time. One that David could put up with as a friend and then go have have affairs without hurting her.

Jane smiled, in a perfect world she would marry David herself. She wanted kids, her parents off her back about them which she was sure they would be once they found out. But more importantly it wouldn’t bother her that David slept with other men because she would be sleeping with other women. It would be a perfect arrangement in a perfect world.

Jane laughed to herself as the new nurse walked in, she had stingy brown hair and large eyes that made her look like a mouse. She stared straight at her feet from the moment she walked into the door, and shuffled towards Jane.

“I’m Melinda ill be T-t-taking care of you.” The mousy woman studdered never making eye contact or offering a hand to shake. Jane just smiled, This woman she could work with, “ Melinda, look at me please I do prefer to be looked at when im spoken to.”

Melinda raised her eyes to look at Jane, “much better” Jane said smiling “ now I don’t really need anything, and since your just here to babysit me you can just go sit over there and do whatever you would like to do.”

Melinda looked a little bit less scared but did as she was told anyway, she took the seat across the room from Jane’s bed. Jane smiled and settled herself under the blanket, it was time for a well deserved rest.

I was right about one thing .....there was a deep dark secret.
And cheerful people don't belong working in hospitals. Psychiatric ones maybe, but not real ones where people are actually hurt and sick.
I'll be glad when Jane finally gets to go home.
