Chapter 2A Chapter by AriannaJane woke up to a plain blindingly bright light followed by an unusually clean smell that masked the smell of sickness and death. Oddly enough, as she regained her sight the room she found herself in reminded her slightly of her mother’s bedroom. It was pristinely clean, the furniture looked like it wasn’t meant to be sat in, and there was at least four containers of hand sanitizer in different places around the room. the only way she could tell that this wasn’t her mother’s room and in fact was a hospital, was the fact that her father was in fact in the room. “your awake” he said nodding in her direction. He didn’t seem
do be effected by this. She assumed she had been “asleep" for a while, as
she obviously wasn’t in the intensive care unit anymore. The room’s walls weren’t
bright white like they were in the ER, but instead a deep cream. She had a blanket draped over her and last
she remembered it had only been September, really there had been no need for a
blanket of any kind. “He’s Dead Isn’t He” she asked. Knowing full well that her father probably cared more about the car that was totaled, than the man whose life was lost in the accident. “The Driver?” He asked inquisitive look on his face. Jane just looked up at the ceiling, she didn’t even really know how to warrant that with an answer.
“Yes, THE DRIVER Papa.” She exclaimed tears threatening to pour over the lids of her eyes. “my friend, the only person in this whole f*****g house who understood a word of what I f*****g said. FRANKLIN! IS HE F*****G DEAD OR ISN’T HE?” Jane gripped the blanket hating how the rough fibers felt
against her hands tears pouring down her face and blurring her eyesight. Her father
was nothing more than a large grey blob, though she was sure he was wearing an
expensive suit with an expensive haircut. But she couldn’t see any of that, at this moment all she could see was a large
grey blob. “He’s dead. “her father said before the grey blob moved to
the door and exited the room leaving her alone to break down further into
tears. Whatever way she broke this down
in her head, this was her fault. She shouldn’t have been so harsh on him, she shouldn’t
have made him drive her to such a bad place of the city. She shouldn’t have
made him drive her anywhere. Period. He was dead and it was all her fault. Jane pulled the blanked over her head and wept silently, shutting out the world. Cursing whatever higher power there was for not taking her instead, and begging them to change their mind. © 2012 AriannaReviews
