Photographs Only Show So MuchA Poem by AriannaHere she comes Defiant Like always Her dress is purple Over the top But pretty Floor length Its princess day The last day of freshman year Why not go out with a bang After all it’s the last day She sits down on the stool “Turn your head...no a little farther” She rolls her eyes She’d rather be behind the camera Than in front of it “No...Back again” “Make up your mind” she snipes “Perfect, now smile” Her smile was far from perfect She should have had braces at a young age But the time for that was past So she smiled with her lips closed “That’s not a real smile” said the woman behind the camera “Well it’s as good as your going to get” The dress was crushing her lungs I’m never wearing this thing again she thought “All done” said the woman glad to be rid of her She let out her air Scuttling off to the locker room So much for going out with a bang she thought She pulled on a grey hoodie and a pair of jeans Stuffing the dammed dress in her bag She smiled A real smile Teeth and all No dress No awkward pose Just a girl Finally free of her prison Now, where was that photographer when you needed her? © 2010 Arianna |
