Immortality

Immortality

A Poem by Nessa Aurinko
"

Inspired by Dante's Inferno.

"

As clear in my head

as words on a page

that fall into neat little lines through space.

Open the cover and open a world

created by someone else and shared

with anyone who dares to look further.

Imagined by man, immortalized by word,

the best place to be for the kind of character

that find their end in stars.

The scope of this is unbelievable. It conjures up vast lengths in space and time while also tying to this immensity the clarity of the moment exemplified by the first stanza. Finally, it leaves the reader in the infinity of the stars. Just beautiful.

Nicely done! I especially like the line "Imagined by man, immortalized by word." Every author's intention.
