one million people

I wrote this a couple years ago when I was quite a bit younger, and have revised it recently. Hope you like it!

There are a million people frowning 

so maybe if five hundred thousand people,

found five hundred thousand other people 

and told eachother jokes 

there would be a million people laughing. 

 

There are a million people who can’t sleep

So many if five hundred thousand people

found five hundred thousand people

and drank some chamomile tea together

there would be a million people sleeping.

 

There are a million people lonely 

so maybe if five hundred thousand people held a party 

for five hundred thousand other people 

and they talked and played Twister ,

there would be a million new friends. 

 

There are a million people lost 

so maybe if five hundred thousand people 

found five hundred thousand people 

and chose a path together ,

there would be a million people on a new adventure. 

 

There are a million people crying 

so maybe if five hundred thousand people gave a hug 

to five hundred thousand other people 

and didn’t say a thing, 

there would be a million people smiling 

 

There are a million people dreaming 

maybe if five hundred thousand dreamers 

met five hundred thousand other dreamers 

and said it’s possible.

There would be a million more dreams come true.

 

There are a million boys 

and there are a million girls 

so maybe if one million boys 

found one million girls 

and held hands and fell in love 

there would be two million more, smiling, laughing, dreaming people.

 

There are a million people, 

people running, dancing, twirling, tumbling, fumbling

so somewhere there must be 

one person

 

like me.
