Darkness

Darkness

A Poem by Mika Haruna

i was once afraid of all the noise
now i fear the silence
i was once afraid of the crowds
but now i fear the lonliness

in the dark whispers sound
in the dark people die

im not afraid of the dark
im afraid of what lies there
im not afraid of normalicy
im afraid of my waning sanity

i fall into notjing
darkness is my womb
light is my mother

i fear this life
so full of empty promises
when will the day come
when we can join as one

death haunts us
life shadows us
dark takes us
light hides us
the noise shelters us
the silence forsakes us
together we are one
alone we are nothing
all the while pretending to care
