My Brother

My Brother

A Poem by Mika Haruna

The birds cry a sorrowful song

The Flowers seem to bow their heads

A lone tear falls to the ground, it is mine

i cry for him, though he told me not to do so

my brother, dead in my arms. his blood on my coat

He will be forgotten by the world

but not by me, if it werent for him i would be dead

he jumped in front of a flying killer, his eyes showed no fear

I drug his body to where we now lay.

it was his last request to me, to die here in solitude

but i could not let that be, for him to die alone was far too cruel

and to think, that only moments before i had told him i hated him

I smile bitterly and stroke his cheek

your big brother is a liar after all, i think to him

i stand from where i knelt, and i walk away, from my younger brother

a soul that shall soon be forgotten to the world, except for me

goodnight, my brother
