Wings of Death

Wings of Death

A Poem by Mika Haruna

Glass eyes stare at faded walls

Death comes swift on black wings

Has the bird left its cage yet?

still no answer

The old me stares out the window

A fate that has already been

decided

a longing that shall never

be realized

is this her world?

still no answer.

the sound of wings

draws her to consciousness

death is swift

no time left

she must escape

must flee this gray existance

will she die now?

still no answer.

i grasp her hand

and pull her close

this small child

so frail

must her eyes close?

still no answer.

a feather of black

touches her slightly

soft as the night

it takes away her life

ever so gently

is she gone now?

the answer comes at last

yes.

A tempered relativism of sheer passion, well done, great job.
