Gaslight Park

Gaslight Park

A Poem by Neal S

You float like leaf into my pocket
I hold you there like a fine piece of gold
A child with a fresh picked flower
White lace wind whistles past my face
Circling me in daybreak beauty
We wander gaslight park
Sharp waters linger in red stone background
Shrinking sun blazing low

You are the queen of crystal bone
Me the king of falling stars
The empty night now
Taste like a waking dream
Obsidian moon
Pushing up

We strode past a liquor faced vagrant
Fingers bleeding out liquid music from steel guitar
Iron lips moving in typewriter lyrics
You slipped him your last dollar
He smiled

You are very welcome
It is lovely to share happiness. Not only did she give him a dollar, but she made him smile. But did she leave ?ref, the empty night? But memories can be happy too.

Lovely imagery ....you just get a fuzzy feeling of two people enjoying their walk at sunset... delightful.

That second stanza is extraordinary. As a visual artist I tend to see most things er.... visually. This is more that seen it is percieved. The colours, the moods, the atmopheres. All here in abundance and very enjoyable they are too.

Powerful words and thoughts in the poetry. I liked the honest tone leading to good ending. You create people, place and a gift of a dollar. Thank you Neal for sharing the excellent poetry.

You are welcome my friend.
That was quite a picture you painted in the minds of the readers Neal. If only all walks were as tranquil and calming to the mind as this one. I pictured this as a silent walk, with dream like qualities, until the last verse that captures perfectly what you heard, liquid music. Superb.
